Commission hosts conference on micro-mobility services. Today Commissioner for Transport Violeta Bulc participates in the conference “Micro-mobility: the next big thing?” in Ljubljana, Slovenia. New mobility concepts such as e-bikes and e-scooters may have the potential to reduce congestion and improve air quality in cities e.g. by replacing car trips. The use of these vehicles, nevertheless, has to be safe and sustainable.  Focusing on the latest developments in shared micro-mobility, Commissioner Bulc said: “Micro-mobility – e-scooters, bikes, onewheels and other devices – is a next big topic in the area of multimodal integrated mobility solutions. When properly addressed, it can play a significant role in delivering on Vision Zero – zero pollution and emissions, zero fatalities and serious injuries, zero congestion – at EU, national and local level. Our conference in Ljubljana is dedicated to this topic. It brings together different stakeholders to identify the pressing issues and to propose possible ways forward to serve as input to the new Commission”. At the conference, Commissioner Bulc will also visit a public exhibition of micromobility services.
